To commemorate the World Environment Day 2018 and its theme “Beat Plastic Pollution”, Hand in Hand Inclusive Development and Services (HHIDS) conducted a unique event, in association with Asian Paints Ltd.-Sriperumbudur, in Sriperumbudur town on21st and 22nd June 2018. The event was recognized by LIMCA BOOK OF RECORDS for creating and holding a long plastic rope made out of used single-use plastic carry bags. The 2.261 km long rope made the event a grand success, which also proved to be a unique way of creating awareness among the community on the effects of single-use plastics on the environment.
The Limca Book of Records confirmed the record and the same would be published in its 2019 edition.
